Reading at Home

As a school, we value the importance of reading as the gateway to accessing all other curriculum subjects. Within the school day, there are ample opportunities for you child to practise reading; however we also request that children read at home, ideally to an adult, at least three times a week.

We have created our own version of a Little Wandle worksheet to help support your child read at home.

There are words which your child should be able to read on sight (also known as 'Tricky Words') depending on which term and year group they are in, and there are words which your child should be able to decode using the graphemes they have been taught so far.
